Description of the Illustration: There is a chaotic line made of five swords strewn across the center of the card. Underneath the swords, a sad Persephone is trapped in the Underworld clasping the planet Venus to her breast like a magical crystal ball — Persephone longs for her mother, Ceres (Roman name Demeter), the goddess of the harvest. Above the line, Ceres wanders the Earth, mourning her lost daughter. The landscape is dying (summer turning to fall) around her, mirroring her grief. In the background, a cascading waterfall is formed by the mermaid from the Star card, the water-bearer, pouring both her pitchers towards the earth in woe. A red sphere (Geburah) peeks over the bottom center edge of the card.
