Justice

XI - Justice...

Description of the Illustration:

The head of the Egyptian Goddess of balance, Ma'at, rises from the planet Venus, resting at the apex of huge ornate scales that are balanced against the backdrop of a vibrant autumn sunset over the beach at high tide. The scales are not static, but instead are constantly moving to remain in perfect balance. On the left scale is the Sun, superimposed with the image of the lighter (male) twin from The Lovers card, while the Moon is on the right scale, superimposed with the image of the darker (female) twin; the Sun and Moon (the two twins) reach for each other. Below them is an ancient piece of parchment which reads "I, Light, and I, Darkness, do promise to... ." The upper left sphere is blue (Chesed), while the lower right sphere is green (Netzach).

Astrological Association: Libra

Element: Air, Masculine, Transmissive, Cardinal sign

Law of Love

The Fool must now confront Justice and learn her lessons of Harmony and balance, for the order of existence is founded upon the laws of cause and effect, as well as ownership and responsibility.

Justice teaches the Fool to carefully measure the facts (rather than feelings) in making his judgments. The Fool observes the true benefits of Equanimity and Partnership, as the Law of Love — that great unifying force — works most effectively only when operating beneath Individual Will.
