Poisonous Illusions

Description of the Illustration: This card depicts a family that is vacationing on the beach together, but they are in the midst of a HUGE family fight. The father and mother are lying on lounge chairs, Sunburned and red-faced from shouting at each other, but even as the father yells, his eyes can’t help watching the shapely blond in the pink bikini walk by. The older brother and sister sit in stony silence; their arms are folded and their backs are to each other. The youngest boy is holding his foot and crying next to an unfinished sandcastle he’s been building; a small scorpion (who is begin ridden by a mischievous Puck) has just stung him, but everyone else is so involved in the fight that they haven’t yet noticed. The unfinished sandcastle has seven turrets that look like seven golden cups — each one filled with a different unreachable dream desired by the little boy. The first holds a dragon, the second holds a little girl, the third contains Gaia, the fourth has toys, the fifth is full of riches, the sixth holds Sir Galahad, and the seventh holds a happy, loving home. A beach ball that looks suspiciously like the planet Venus sits next to the little boy, unnoticed. The Green Man’s face sadly peers at the scene from amongst the foliage of a nearby palm tree. A green sphere (Netzach) peeks over the bottom center edge of the card.
