Description of the Illustration: On a tree-covered cliff in front of the ocean, the jovial Green Man sits atop of an oak tree controlling a marionette puppet — a smaller version of himself that stands on the ground beneath the tree. The puppet Green man has no idea that he is being controlled. Across from the puppet master Green Man floats the planet Mars, also controlling a marionette, the young Sir Galahad. Sir Galahad is equally unaware of his strings as he happily grasps the largest cup in a rainbow arch of 10 cups that float in the sky between the two puppet masters. The puppet master Green Man looks out of the corner of this narrowed eyes at the planet Mars as the puppet Green Man, seeing the strings on his companion, reaches towards Galahad’s strings with a large knife, attempting to free Galahad in such a way that Galahad doesn’t notice that he’s being freed. On the surface, it appears that the puppet Green man is attempting to free his friend from the confines of the strings; however, the real question is: will an individual so unaware of his own condition truly be able to help another, or will his “help” only cause further pain and suffering? (What happens to a puppet with no stings?) And even more insidious to consider, is the desire to “help” the puppet’s own, or simply the cover up for the mysterious intentions of the puppet master by whom he is controlled? Two distant fish in the ocean watch with interest. A russet, navy, citrine, and olive sphere (Malkuth) peeks over the bottom center edge of the card.
