Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

Oppression

Astrological Association: Saturn in Sagittarius

Description of the Illustration: The huge feet of seven dead Titans, burned by Zeus’ lightning bolt wand, lie in a semi-circle around a black cauldron with the planet Saturn emblazoned upon it; Dionysus, in the form of a bull, has been torn apart into seven pieces — each one skewered on one of the Titan’s mighty wands. Six of the pieces have been eaten and charred, but one piece — the heart — remains whole. A sad Centaur picks up Dionysus’ own beautiful boyish head in mourning. Dionysus’ own wand lies discarded on the floor, yet from his blood grows a lovely pomegranate tree, forming a stronger, new wand. A russet, navy, citrine, and olive sphere (Malkuth) peeks over the bottom center edge of the card.
